Why vaccination is the best protection for a child
Many infections seem safe, but can lead to serious complications.
Vaccination builds immunity without the risk of getting sick - it is a proven way to protect your child today and prevent problems in the future.
When to get vaccinated
A child's immunity is formed from the first months of life. That is why it is important to start vaccination early - before he begins to actively contact other children in kindergarten or school.
Every day without protection is an unnecessary risk. Don't wait until your child gets sick - prevent it in advance.
When vaccination can be postponed
Vaccination is a safe process, but in some cases, the doctor may temporarily postpone the vaccination.
The main reasons are:
- high fever or acute illness;
- serious allergic reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine;
- a condition where the immune system is temporarily weakened (for example, after treatment with steroids or chemotherapy).
Such situations do not mean that the vaccination has been canceled - it is only postponed until full recovery.
The final decision is always made by the doctor after examining the child.
What the doctor does before vaccination
Before vaccination, the doctor conducts a brief examination, measures the temperature, assesses the health status and answers all the questions of the parents.
If there are no contraindications, the child can be vaccinated immediately after the consultation.
After the procedure, the doctor monitors the child's reaction and gives recommendations for home care.
What to do at home after vaccination
After vaccination, your child may feel a little tired or have a fever - this is a normal reaction of the body to the formation of immunity.
- Observe your child for several days.
- In case of fever, give an antipyretic recommended by your doctor.
- Ensure rest, sufficient fluids and light nutrition.
- If there is slight swelling or redness at the vaccination site - it will disappear on its own.
If the reaction is worrying or lasts longer than a day, consult a doctor.
When to see a doctor
Seek medical help immediately if your child:
- has a temperature above 39 °C that does not go down;
- looks too lethargic or sleepy;
- refuses to eat or drink;
- cries or trembles constantly;
- has seizures or a severe allergic reaction.
In most cases, such symptoms do not occur after vaccination. But if something causes concern - it is better to consult a doctor.
