Radiography and fluoroscopy
X-ray imaging is performed to study specific lesions in infectious diseases such as arthritis, pneumonia, or myocarditis. It is also used to diagnose diseases occurring in the thoracic region, namely the heart and lungs. In certain specific cases, with individual indications, it is used for the diagnosis of the digestive organs, joints, kidneys, spine, and liver.
Advantages of X-ray imaging:
- does not require special preparation;
- wide availability and ease of execution; the results can be used by doctors of various specialties;
- relative affordability.
Indications for performing:
- verification of the correct placement of the endotracheal tube and central venous catheter in the intensive care and general resuscitation unit;
- monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment carried out;
- confirmation of lesions in various organs.
List of studies:
- X-ray of the thoracic organs;
- X-ray of the abdominal organs; X-ray of the bones of the skull, nose, paranasal sinuses, bones and joints, sternum, clavicle, ribs, spine, pelvic bones;
- plain and excretory urography, cystography;
- irrigography (in pediatric patients);
- X-ray fluoroscopy of the thoracic organs;
- X-ray fluoroscopy of the proximal sections of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, duodenum);
- irigoscopy;
- endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography; percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography;
- fistulography; hysterosalpingography.
