"Dobrobut" launches a project to provide free training for veteran doctors

The Dobrobut medical network is launching the "MedEducation for Heroes" project, through which 20 veteran medics will be able to undergo free professional training at the Dobrobut Academy. Participants will have the opportunity to choose a medical specialization based on their needs and experience.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and Veteran Hub, with UP.Zhyttya as the media partner.

Project Goals:

  • Engage veteran medics as part of the professional community.
  • Provide access to high-quality professional knowledge and an opportunity to renew qualifications at Dobrobut Academy.
  • Apply the military experience of specialists to strengthen the healthcare system.
  • Support veterans returning to civilian life and their profession.

This initiative will be beneficial for veteran medics who wish to:

  • Update their knowledge after service.
  • Confirm their qualifications.
  • Gain a new specialization.

The training will last an average of 3 months, taking place either offline at Dobrobut Academy's center in Kyiv or online, depending on the specialization. The list includes specializations for both doctors and nurses/medics.

To participate in the project, you must submit an application on the website. An expert commission will then select 20 participants who meet the specified criteria: having a medical education, confirmation of veteran status, motivation, future plans in civilian medicine, and professional achievements prior to military service.

Competitive Selection Stages:

  • August 5–15: Application submission period
  • August 16–26: Review of applications by the project commission
  • August 28: Announcement of winners
  • September–November (depending on specialization): Start of training at Dobrobut Academy

You can find all details and submit your application via the link.

"Medics who have been through the war are not just specialists. They are people who know what it means to act in the most difficult conditions, to be a pillar for others, and to maintain dignity under pressure. We are grateful that Dobrobut has created an opportunity for such specialists to return to their profession, renew their qualifications, and find their rightful and leading place in the healthcare system after service. This is not just about training — it's about bringing back experience that can change and save lives," noted Ruslan Prykhodko, veteran and Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.

"Meaningful work where one can apply the experience, skills, and knowledge gained during service contributes to a faster return to civilian life. We are genuinely pleased that Dobrobut is creating the space and opportunities for this journey," comments Iryna Haluzinska, Senior Project Manager at Veteran Hub.

"For us, this project is a way to express gratitude and provide real support to those who defended Ukraine. We want every veteran to know that here, in the rear, they are awaited. And we, as the country's leading medical network, are ready to support our medical colleagues on this path: to help them return to the profession, gain new knowledge, and once again find themselves among their peers — in a professional environment, with support and respect," says Oleksandra Mashkevych, Chief Medical Officer of the Dobrobut medical network.
