Pediatric surgical urology
Some severe pathologies, for example, bladder exstrophy, are diagnosed before the birth of a baby, in the course of prenatal (intrauterine) ultrasound diagnostics. In case of such a pathology a child has no anterior wall of the urinary bladder and a part of the anterior abdominal wall, that is why the child needs cystoplasty just after birth.
Some severe congenital renal and urinary bladder developmental anomalies manifest with time as a child grows. It can be noticed as neoformations in the abdominal and lumbar areas. Hypospadia and epispadia of the penis can manifest in the first days of child’s life; it means that the external urethral orifice is located on the lower or the upper surface of the penis. Apart from a serious curvature of the boy’s penis, the child may suffer from urinary incontinence. The pathology requires surgical treatment. Physiologic phimosis is also one of the most frequent pathologies of boys. It is a condition when the narrowing of the foreskin obstacles the balanus exteriorization.
You should see an urologist in the following cases:
- it is impossible to expose the balanus;
- the external urethral orifice is located in a nontypical place;
- the penis is very small;
- secondary sexual characteristics are absent;

Endoscopic urology, minimally invasive surgical interventions and laparoscopic surgical techniques are widely used at Dobrobut clinic chain:
Endoscopic treatment
Endoscopy as a modern therapeutic approach widely used in pediatric urology nowadays. The newest minimally invasive technologies used by the specialists of Dobrobut clinic chain, in particular, Karl Storz laparoscopic holder, allow performing the following procedures:
- plastics of the ureterovesical segment with Nubiplant / Vantrix gel;
- removal of foreign bodies of the bladder;
- contact lithotripsy of different localization of the stone;
- endoscopic dissection of the ureterocele.

- urethroplasty in case of hypospadia;
- cystoplasty;
- open plastic reconstruction of the pyelourethral segment, formation of an anastomosis (new conjunction) between the pelvis of kidney and the ureter in case of hydronephrosis.
Laparoscopy
This modern surgical technique is also minimally invasive, as the surgeries are performed through small incisions to insert a laparoscope. The technique is used for the following procedures:
- laparoscopic plastic reconstruction of the pyelourethral segment, formation of an anastomosis (new conjunction) between the pelvis of kidney and the ureter in case of hydronephrosis;
- ureterocystostomy in case of reflective megaureter;
- heminephrectomy (removal of a part of the kidney);
- aparoscopic transsection of the testicular vein in case of varicocele;
- cystectomy (removal of cyst formations in kidneys);
- nephrectomy (kidney removal);
- diverticulectomy (removal of the bladder ears).
