On June 11 and 14, Dobrobut medical and diagnostic centers in Kyiv will host open blood donations in honor of World Blood Donor Day. On these days, everyone interested will be able to donate blood and its components for the needs of Ukrainian medical institutions, aiding in the treatment of sick and wounded military personnel and civilians.
The campaign is organized by the Dobrobut medical network in partnership with "Agents of Blood," the Kyiv Regional Blood Center, the Kyiv Military Hospital, and with the support of the healthy sweets brand "Ravlyk Bob" and the craft bakery Bakehouse.
According to WHO recommendations, 33 people per 1,000 population should donate blood. In Ukraine, there has always been a shortage of donor blood, and before the war, this figure ranged from 11 to 13 donors per 1,000 people. Due to the full-scale invasion, the need for donor blood has significantly increased, and only a stable base of regular voluntary donors can meet these demands.
Blood supplies are critically needed by maternity hospitals, military hospitals, surgical departments, burn centers, oncology departments, and intensive care units. Thus, today the lives of the nation's defenders and wounded civilians depend on the activity of donors in all Ukrainian cities.
Any Ukrainian citizen over 18 years old, who has no contraindications to donation, and weighs at least 50 kg can become a donor.

"Every drop of donated blood is not just a symbol of hope, but a real chance to save a life. That is why Dobrobut annually organizes Donor Days for its employees and everyone who wants to contribute to this good cause. This is part of our corporate social responsibility – to support voluntary donation in Ukraine and to talk about its importance," says Oleksandra Mashkevych, Chief Medical Officer of the Dobrobut medical network.
"Donation is an invitation to a social contract of mutual assistance, even a kind of cultural habit, and donors are true superheroes of our time. They are a very important social capital of the country. I am very glad that the number of organizations in Ukraine that include donation in their corporate social responsibility package is growing," says Olena Balbek, founder of "Agents of Blood."
