Non-invasive medical research, the basis of which is obtaining a projection image of anatomical structures of the body, is called x-ray diagnostics. Despite the availability of many modern methods of examination of patients in medical institutions, radiography remains the most common and most informative method of diagnosis. A specialist in any field of medical science can send his patient to undergo an X-ray examination - this method is most often decisive when making a diagnosis. This position of X-ray diagnostics in the "rating" of the popularity of experimental procedures provides its advantages:
- the method is available to a wide range of patients;
- conducting research does not pose any difficulties;
- the cost of an X-ray examination is one of the lowest among diagnostic procedures;
- the obtained image can be shown to another specialist or presented in another medical institution without the need for a repeated X-ray (for example, ultrasound examination does not provide such an opportunity).
In addition, there is no need to carry out preparatory work before the X-ray examination. The only exception is cases of X-ray diagnosis of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. But even in this case, the patient will not have to do anything difficult - as a rule, the preparation consists in cleansing the intestines and/or stomach, refusing to eat 6-12 hours before the examination, using a choleretic agent. Moreover, these procedures of preparation for X-ray examination are not carried out at the same time - each patient is prescribed something specific.
