Doppler ultrasound (Doppler ultrasound)

One of the informative methods of instrumental diagnostics is fetal Dopplerography during pregnancy (Doppler ultrasound). The main goal of this study is to determine the state of blood flow in the relationship: mother-placenta-fetus.

Doppler ultrasound is performed after the complete formation of the placenta at terms of no less than 16 weeks in cases where:

• Ordinary ultrasound revealed umbilical cord loops around the fetus's neck;
• Pathologies in placenta development were detected;
• In cases of oligohydramnios or polyhydramnios;
• Ultrasound detected malformations of the fetal brain or heart;
• An abnormally small fetal size, identified during obstetric examination or ultrasound;
• Severe systemic diseases of the pregnant woman (diabetes, endocrine diseases);
• Rh conflict between mother and fetus;
• A previous experience of a missed miscarriage;
• Multiple pregnancies, especially if one fetus is larger than the other;
• Poor results of cardiotocography after 30 weeks;
• Abdominal trauma in the pregnant woman.

Dopplerometry allows for the identification of circulatory disorders and timely recognition of threats to the fetus's life. Special preparation is not required for conducting ultrasound via the Doppler system, and the study is combined with routine ultrasound diagnostics.
