CT scan of the abdomen
Computed tomography (CT) allows for the acquisition of radiological images of the abdominal organs (liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, stomach, and intestines), as well as the organs of the retroperitoneal space – kidneys, adrenal glands, blood vessels, and lymph nodes.
CT reproduces with quite a high degree of accuracy the size, density, structure, and possible neoplasms of the examined organs, and detects initial, even minor, pathological changes that cannot be diagnosed using other instrumental methods. CT diagnostics are contraindicated for pregnant women and children, or if they have an intolerance to the contrast agent that is often administered during the examination.
