Clinical oncologists — these are doctors who know all methods of diagnosis and treatment, all approaches to combating any oncological disease: who use radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy and other special methods.
It is the clinical oncologist who can clearly define the tactics and sequence of methods. Before prescribing treatment, the patient must undergo the necessary diagnostic procedures. And the results of the examinations give the doctor answers — malignant tumor or not; if the process is malignant, where has it spread, which organs — this should be understood to determine the stage of the disease. Clear knowledge of the stage allows you to develop the correct treatment tactics.
At the first consultation, the clinical oncologist discusses his condition with each patient, conducts an examination, analyzes medical documents, and, if necessary, prescribes additional studies; develops an optimal treatment plan as part of the consultation.
During all stages, the clinical oncologist monitors the patient's progress and makes recommendations for further treatment and care. Carefully selected combinations of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery are often necessary.
