Clasp prosthetics
Modern dentistry has stepped far forward, leaving on the sidelines of progress the old prostheses used by our grandparents, and which were always kept in a glass of water at night.
Today doctors offer patients to install durable, conditionally removable clasp structures that will help you again feel like a full-fledged member of society with a beautiful smile! The peculiarity of such a prosthesis is in an arched supporting structure (bügel from German - "arc"), which is made of a metal alloy and on which metal-ceramic or ceramic crowns are attached, as well as artificial gums made of bioplastic.
Now, this popular type of prosthetics is available to you at the Dobrobut Dental Clinic in Kyiv and Irpen. Equipped with the latest technology, the clinic has gathered in its team the best professionals who are ready to help you!
Why prosthetics shouldn't be postponed
The absence of even one tooth over time leads to complex consequences:
- displacement of the teeth, which leads to a change in the bite and disruption of the temporomandibular joint;
- the inability to chew food correctly and, as a result, indigestion, which leads to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
- increased load on the remaining teeth, resulting in abrasion and destruction of enamel;
- bone atrophy;
- the face is aging before our eyes: cheeks, lips sink, the height of the face decreases, its asymmetry is observed, the chin sags;
- possible violation of diction, lisp;
- and finally, psychological problems and low self-esteem.
That is why it is important to contact an orthopedic dentist in time and choose the type of prosthetics that suits you (according to indications and taking into account financial capabilities).
How will clasp dentures change your life for the better?
Popular today all over the world, clasp prostheses are conditionally removable and are fixed on implants or their teeth.
In the absence of your own supporting teeth, the installation of implants for attaching a prosthesis to them is an expensive procedure, but its advantages are obvious: the root part of the implant repeats healthy teeth, and the implants look aesthetically pleasing and natural.
In addition, even with the installation of supporting implants, the price of a clasp prosthesis remains much more affordable than a restoration of the entire jaw with implants, therefore such prosthetics are available to a wider range of patients.
Advantages of clasp-type prostheses:
- securely fixed to the abutment teeth and do not fall off during meals due to metal fasteners;
- completely restore chewing function;
- comfortable to wear, do not cause discomfort, the habituation process is minimal (due to the use of a thin metal arc);
- durability and strength - the service life of such prostheses is from 5 to 7, and sometimes even 10 years;
- minimum weight of the structure;
- due to the use of a rigid metal frame, the prosthesis is motionless in the mouth, therefore it is less worn out, and also does not lead to damage to the mucous membranes, inflammation of the soft tissues around the teeth;
- does not affect the taste of food and sensitivity, since the arch minimally covers the palate, and in the sublingual space of the lower jaw it takes only a few millimeters at the base of the teeth;
- clasp prosthesis distributes the chewing load between the gum and abutment teeth approximately equally, which gives high chewing efficiency and reduces the possibility of tissue atrophy under the prosthesis and subsidence of the entire installation;
- do not require removal after each meal and at night;
- high speed of manufacturing a prosthesis according to personal measurements.
Types of clasp prosthesis attachments
- Denture on clasps - special hooks that rest on the abutment teeth and thus do not bring discomfort. Hooks are made of metal and can be seen when smiling, however, they can be made of acetal alloy, which is matched to the color of the teeth. The cost of such a clasp prosthesis is the most affordable.
- Denture with clasps, which are attached to special crowns that are put on the abutment teeth. Locks, or attachments, are tenaciously attached, which guarantees the reliability of fixation of the prosthesis. Locks can be installed not only on your teeth but also on implants.
The advantages of this design: invisible, distribute the load on the jaw and teeth (50/50), do not loosen the abutment teeth, have high aesthetics, do not damage the tissues in the mouth (the prosthesis does not touch the gums and enamel of their teeth during installation and removal). Disadvantages: trauma and change in abutment teeth.
Due to the use of more expensive materials for the manufacture of such a prosthesis, its price is higher than on clasps. - Telescopic fixation systems are constructions held on telescopic crowns. The use of such a prosthesis is advisable if the patient does not have teeth that can be used as supporting teeth or in case of severe destruction of his teeth.
Important
- When installing prostheses, the patient should have at least 6 natural teeth with good periodontium. If the fixation of the teeth in the jaw is broken or they are loose, the clasp prosthesis will continue to loosen the teeth, because it rests on both the mucous membrane and the abutment teeth
- Prosthetics should not be performed in questionable clinics. Pay attention to the availability of certificates, study profiles, and reviews of specialists who offer you treatment. In addition, pay attention to the availability of diagnostic devices and equipment for the manufacture of prostheses in the dental clinic.
- Doctors of Dobrobut Dental Clinic dental centers are fully responsible for the quality of all services provided, and we also provide a guarantee for prostheses made in our clinic.
