NaUKMA and Dobrobut Medical School Receives License

The Medical School has officially received a license to provide educational activities in the specialty of Medicine. The school is now beginning preparations for its first student intake, which will start in 2026.

Receiving the license officially marks a new stage in the history of the Medical School—an educational initiative that combines the academic traditions of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) with the modern clinical practice of the Dobrobut medical network.

A large multidisciplinary team worked on the creation of the Medical School. More than 100 professionals, including physicians, educators, researchers, medical education experts, representatives of international partner organizations, and healthcare practitioners, contributed to the development of the curriculum, educational approaches, and the model for training future doctors.

“Obtaining the license is the result of tremendous collaborative work and, at the same time, the beginning of a new chapter for us. We created the Medical School with the understanding that a modern physician must be not only a holder of knowledge, but also a leader of change, a researcher, a communicator, and a responsible professional. We aim to create an educational environment where students can learn through practice, develop clinical thinking, and build the values that define the medicine of the future,” said Mariia Kukushkina, Founding Dean of the Medical School and Surgical Oncologist at the Dobrobut medical network.

Education at the Medical School will be based on the CanMEDS competency framework, which is used by leading medical schools worldwide. The program includes early development of clinical skills, work with real clinical cases, modern simulation-based learning methods, and a strong focus on ethics, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.

A distinctive feature of the Medical School is the combination of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’s academic culture—built on freedom of thought, critical thinking, and interdisciplinarity—with the modern clinical expertise of the Dobrobut medical network. Students will have the opportunity to gradually immerse themselves in the clinical environment from the very first years of study, work with simulation technologies, and gain exposure to real clinical practice.

The first intake of students to the NaUKMA × Dobrobut Medical School will begin in 2026.
