Comprehensive refractive ophthalmic examination
A comprehensive refractive ophthalmologic examination is a detailed scheduled eye examination that includes the use of basic and additional diagnostic methods. This examination is mandatory for patients who plan to undergo laser vision correction.
Laser vision correction allows you to effectively treat refractive pathologies such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, providing high visual acuity without the need to wear glasses or contact lenses.
Indications for examination
- Short-sightedness (myopia)
- Farsightedness (hyperopia)
- Astigmatism
- Preparation for laser vision correction
What does a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination include?
- Extended ophthalmologic examination: determination of visual acuity in conditions of cycloplegia, a number of optometric tests to determine the planned refraction and planned visual acuity.
- Ophthalmoscopy: a detailed examination of the fundus in conditions of mydriasis using a contact fundus lens with the use of anesthetic drops.
- Keratotopography: Analysis of the shape and structure of the cornea to assess its condition and identify irregularities.
