Callus removal

A callus is a formation on the skin with a change in its structure due to friction and pressure on it. The skin becomes thicker, drier, and discolored. Often a raised area with a defined center is formed in the center, the most painful part of the callus. Without treatment, such a callus can shrink slightly, but it does not go away on its own.

Diagnosis of corns before removal in Dobrobut

The podiatrist will carefully examine the affected area of the skin. If necessary, he will take an impression from the surface for analysis. This is necessary in order to exclude other pathologies, such as a wart, which, at first glance, may look like a callus. The analysis of the location, size, and condition of the callus will help to choose the best method of its removal.

Anamnesis helps the doctor to determine the duration of the callus and predict the effect of treatment. We try to provide comprehensive information about the causes of the pathology so that the patient can further influence the condition of his feet.

Factors that can lead to calluses

  • poor quality shoes, mismatch of size and model to the needs of the foot
  • socks and stockings that are narrow in the foot area
  • excessive load on the foot for a certain period of time
  • hyperkeratosis
  • deformation of the foot (flat feet, trauma, arthritis, gout)
  • metabolic diseases that lead to changes in the foot (diabetes mellitus)

How calluses are removed in Dobrobut

In Dobrobut, we remove calluses according to the optimal plan for the patient, selected by a combination of factors. We take into account not only the medical necessity, but also the patient's needs regarding the duration of rehabilitation and the ability to visit the clinic for procedures. Therefore, in similar cases, combinations of different methods can be used, which are optimal for different patients.

The podiatrist will definitely unload the problem area. From the very first visit, we strive to minimize the pain and discomfort that a patient may experience with a callus. We draw up a rehabilitation plan and explain how to prevent the reappearance of calluses.

A Dobrobut podiatrist can remove a callus with a laser, a milling machine with different attachments, or a scalpel. The process of corn removal will not cause you pain, and after the procedure is completed, you will be able to walk as usual.

When corns need to be removed urgently:

  • the callus has grown larger,
  • sharp pain when walking,
  • discoloration, redness,
  • itching of the callus
  • discharge from the callus,
  • callus ulceration or cracking.

Standards and safety at Dobrobut for corn removal

The use of the hardware method of foot treatment for callus removal in Dobrobut is safe and comfortable. The nozzles for the device are sterilized immediately after each patient.

Immediately before the treatment, a product to soften the hardened skin is applied to the affected area. The keratolytic will not harm healthy skin because it is based on special acids that act only on dead cells. Keratolytic reduces the duration of the treatment and makes it easier.

The surgical method using a scalpel is a classic method for removing large and deeply embedded corns. Before the intervention, anesthesia is mandatory to prevent pain during the procedure. One procedure is enough to completely remove even a large callus surgically. The healing of the lesion takes about a week.

Laser corn removal is a quick and non-contact method that does not require rehabilitation. It is also performed with the use of anesthesia. The method is most effective for small and moderate-sized calluses.
