Diagnosis of heart rhythm disorders by ECG monitoring

Diagnosis of heart rhythm disorders by ECG monitoring

24-hour ECG monitoring or long-term ECG recording is one of the most informative methods for diagnosing heart rhythm disorders, conduction, and detecting myocardial ischemia during normal daytime and nighttime exercise.

The study is indicated for patients with complaints of palpitations, heart failure, discomfort or pain behind the sternum.

The study is an electrocardiogram recording at home for 24 hours or more: 48, 72 hours.

During ECG recording, the patient leads a normal lifestyle (works, walks, rests) noting in a special diary the time and circumstances of unpleasant sensations, taking medications.

The doctor can give the patient a task, for example, to climb the stairs a certain number of steps and mark the task by pressing a button on the monitor.

The technique allows you to establish:

  • Information about the heart rhythm
  • Impaired heart rhythm, paroxysms of arrhythmias, extrasystoles, pauses, heart block
  • Changes in electrocardiogram intervals, which allows you to identify rare phenomena and syndromes in heart diseases
  • Information about the operation of the pacemaker
  • Changes in part of the ventricular complex (ST segment) and the relationship of these changes with the patient's physical activity allow you to diagnose "silent" myocardial ischemia.

The study is indicated for patients with vegetative-vascular dystonia, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, cardialgia, cardiomyopathies, patients after myocardial infarction, with chronic heart failure, in the presence of valvular heart defects, before cardiac surgery, as well as to assess the effectiveness of therapy with "cardiac" drugs.
